Mares Flexa 8/6 Man Wetsuit
Mares Flexa is a household name for every diver, because for decades the Flexa wetsuits such as the Flexa 5.4.3., the thick Flexa 8.6.5. or the light tropical suit Flexa 3.2.2. have been convincing divers and water sports enthusiasts with their very comfortable fit and high material quality. The new Mares Flexa 8/6, also available as Lady Wetsuit Flexa 8/6 SheDives, has taken all the proven features of the previous Flexa range and added an even more precise cut and even more modern and high-quality materials to offer you more comfort and better protection against the cold when diving.
The thick and very warm Flexa 8/6 is the perfect dive suit in colder areas, as it offers better cold protection than a classic 7mm wetsuit, and upgraded with a matching Mares Flexa Core ice west, which also fits easily over the new Flexa suits, you are still well protected in quite cold water.
High freedom of movement and pleasant wearing comfort
The cut of the previous Flexa wetsuit, which made it one of the best-selling wetsuits on the market, has been optimised in the new Flexa suit, especially in the shoulder and arm area, thus ensuring an even better fit and increased freedom of movement.
Mares has also tried to make the suit as comfortable as possible in many other details, for example in the neck area the collar has been slightly modified and equipped with a softer closure, for more comfort around the neck.
In the spine area, the old Flexa suits already scored with their good padding and this has been taken over and optimised in the new Flexa range, for good protection of the back when carrying heavy diving equipment.
Innovative Ultrastretch material in different thicknesses
From the very beginning, the name Flexa referred to the high elasticity and flexibility of the popular Mares wetsuits, and this feature is of course retained in the new Flexa suits. The Flexa 8/6 is made from 100% durable and highly elastic Ultrastrech neoprene, which has been used in two different thicknesses on different parts of the body to combine the highest possible protection against the cold with the highest possible freedom of movement. The plan has definitely worked out, because thanks to the good fit and the sophisticated combination of materials, the Flexa 8/6 suits offer very good protection against the cold, while still allowing you to move very well, not only when diving, but also during more intensive sports such as canyoning or rowing.
Good protection against the cold
Although the Flexa 8/6 does not have double cuffs, the arm and leg cuffs are tapered and cut close to the skin, are very elastic and have a Glideskin coating on the inside so that you can put the suit on without difficulty, but the cuffs seal so well when worn that there is only minimal water circulation inside the suit and the suit therefore offers you better cold protection than many other standard wetsuits when diving.
Many practical features and the popular thigh pockets
Since it is mainly intended as a diving suit, the Flexa 8/6 wetsuit offers a lot of practical features to make life easier especially for divers.
Many customers have specifically looked for the holder for the popular Mares Smart Pockets and, yes, they are still there! Of course, you still have the practical option of attaching the useful thigh pockets to your suit and the old Mares Smart Pockets also fit without any problems. The holder for the additional pockets consists of a sturdy, two-sided Velcro fastening and a buckle which, when not securing the Smart Pocket, can also be used to fasten a hood or gloves.
To ensure that diving equipment fits snugly without slipping, non-slip areas have been added to the shoulders to stabilise the BCD and to the wrists to secure wrist strap instruments such as dive computers or compasses.
Instructors and students will benefit from the reinforced knee pads which are made from Supratex and still protect the suit very well even when kneeling on rough ground.
Long front zip for easy donning and doffing
Divers who have always struggled to close the back zip will be particularly pleased with the Flexa 8/6 suit's long front zip, as it really does make the suit easier to put on and take off. It is also easier to leave the suit open at the front in warm dive areas until just before the dive and then close it just before descending, even if the rest of the equipment has already been put on. The zip is very robust and has a large, handy sliding handle that can be easily operated even when wearing gloves.
Available in different versions for different diving areas
With the 8mm wetsuit Flexa 8/6 you have a solid protection against the cold in local lakes or in the Mediterranean, but in warmer areas you are definitely "overdressed"! For warm diving areas you can also find the Flexa suit in the thinner version as Flexa 5/4 or the thin tropical wetsuit. Flexa 3/2 which is also very popular in other water sports, as a wetsuit for snorkelling, SUP or rowing
