Instead, it plays an important role in diving - this "armadillo joint" takes over a large part of the energy of your leg movement and transfers it to the fin blade in an amplified manner. This allows you to achieve very good efficiency with little effort, which can make all the difference, especially in currents or on longer and more equipment-intensive dives.
The entire fin design is also designed for high efficiency with little stress, as the flex joint on the side of the foot pockets takes some of the stress off your toes and ankles and transfers it to the fin blade to make every fin stroke more comfortable for you.
The rubber ribs on the side channel the water along the entire fin blade with each fin stroke, reducing water resistance and the strain on your legs.

The foot pockets are designed from a very soft and comfortable material with varying degrees of elasticity, so that the fin always sits comfortably and there are no uncomfortable pressure points on the foot, even with frequent and strenuous fin strokes.
