Freediving

Freediving Accessories - Essential Gear for Freediving

For your first freediving experience, you can of course use your standard diving or watersports equipment. Initially, an ordinary diving or snorkelling mask will suffice, a simple wetsuit is also good for your initial forays into freediving and the fins for scuba diving will be helpful when starting out. However, as you dive deeper into the world of freediving, you won't be able to avoid specialised freediving gear. Soon, your own underwater experiences will show that you need more suitable equipment to improve your performance in freediving.

We have, together with our freediving experts and instructors, compiled a selection of high-quality and reliable gear that will keep you safe and efficient while breath-hold diving.

Freediving Clothing - Wetsuits for Freediving, Apnoea Diving Suits

Only an apnoea diver who is already battling for every second and every metre underwater will understand why the normal 5mm wetsuit is not suitable as a freediving suit. Yes, it protects you from the cold, but you need an apnoea suit that allows you to move through the water with as little resistance as possible, so that you can progress as quickly and effortlessly as possible. Our apnoea suits with special coating in our online dive shop are perfect for this. It's just as important that the suit gives you absolute freedom of movement. And if you need a bit more warmth under the suit, or if a full wetsuit is too much and you would prefer just some neoprene on your torso and pelvic area, then you'll find in our online shop for freediving gear high-quality neoprene tops and trousers or shorts, like the Waterproof T30 neoprene shorts or the Waterproof U30 Undervest neoprene vest.

Freediving Fins

Don't settle for mediocrity with fins either. For maximum performance, we recommend freediving fins with carbon or fibreglass blades, which are even more efficient and of higher quality than standard apnoea fins.

Freediving Instruments - Apnoea Dive Computers and Depth Gauges

As with any other diving activity, apnoea dive computers for freediving are indispensable. To display your diving parameters and record your progress, you need a freediving dive computer, like the ones you can find here in our online dive store. Some devices, like the Mares Smart Apnea, are specifically designed for freediving. However, you can also consider multi-dive computers from our store or opt for a simple depth gauge.

Low-Volume Apnoea Masks

Large, bright masks may be excellent for scuba diving, but for freediving, you need an extremely small volume and lightweight mask to save precious breath. The smallest internal volume is achieved with a small, flexible mask that compresses at increasing depths to keep the internal volume as low as possible. Nonetheless, if you don’t want to sacrifice a wide field of view while freediving, you can choose a mask with a single lens.

Freediving Snorkel - Simple Snorkels Without Valves

Freediving experts embrace minimalism and intentionally eschew any extras on snorkels. We recommend a snorkel with a small volume, no valves, no flex part and a secure, stable mask strap attachment, which you can find in our online shop.

Freediving Accessories - Weight Belts, Weights, Reels, Buoys

In our online dive shop, you'll also find additional accessories you might not consider at the start of your freediving journey but will certainly need later on, such as a freediving weight belt. Suitable coated weights and soft lead granule pouches, and the appropriate belt for them are also available. We also offer a wide selection of freediving signal buoys with matching reels, surface buoys, freediving lights and a lot of other useful accessories for apnoea divers.
